Cancellation & Refund Policy
July 2, 2026 · October 13, 2026
TL;DR – Your Right to Cancel
If you sign a roofing contract with us at your home, or anywhere other than our Walpole, MA office, federal law and the law of your state give you 3 business days to cancel for a full refund, no reason required. In Connecticut this applies to every home improvement contract, wherever and however it is signed.
Your contract includes the exact cancellation deadline and a Notice of Cancellation form. We refund your payment within 10 business days of receiving your notice. Website inquiries and estimates are non-binding and can be withdrawn at any time.
1. Scope
This policy applies to residential roofing contracts between you and Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. for homes in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Interlock Roofing is the manufacturer of Interlock® roofing systems; your contract is with Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. Your written contract governs, and nothing here limits stronger rights your state's law gives you.
2. Federal Cooling-Off Rule
Under the FTC Cooling-Off Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 429), a contract of $25 or more signed at your home (or $130 or more at another location that is not our permanent place of business) may be cancelled until midnight of the third business day after you sign. For this rule, business days are every day except Sundays and federal holidays.
You will receive a copy of your contract with a statement of your right to cancel and two copies of a Notice of Cancellation form.
3. Your State's Cancellation Rules
Connecticut (Home Solicitation Sales Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. § 42-134a et seq.; Home Improvement Act, § 20-429)
- Every home improvement contract is treated as a home solicitation sale, regardless of where or how it is signed, including online or after a video consultation
- You may cancel until midnight of the third business day after signing (business days exclude Sundays and legal holidays)
- If you cancel, you owe nothing for work already performed, and we will restore your property
Massachusetts (Mass. Gen. Laws c. 93, § 48)
- Contracts over $25 made somewhere other than our place of business may be cancelled until midnight of the third business day
- We will not start work during the cancellation period
Rhode Island (R.I. Gen. Laws c. 6-28)
- Contracts of $25 or more made at your home or away from our regular place of business may be cancelled until midnight of the third day after signing, not counting Sundays and holidays
- Rhode Island law requires your notice of cancellation to be sent by registered or certified mail
- If you are 60 or older and we solicited the sale in your home, by phone or online, you also have 3 days to cancel under R.I. Gen. Laws § 5-65-27
New Hampshire (RSA 361-B)
- Contracts of $150 or more made away from our permanent place of business may be cancelled until midnight of the third business day
Maine (9-A M.R.S. §§ 3-501 to 3-505)
- Contracts that result from a personal solicitation at your home may be cancelled until midnight of the third business day
- We will not begin installing materials on your home during the cancellation period, and we charge no cancellation fee
Vermont (9 V.S.A. § 2454)
- Contracts solicited or signed at your home, including sales made wholly or partly by phone, may be cancelled until midnight of the third business day (business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays and holidays)
- The cancellation period does not start until you have received the required notice
4. How to Cancel
To cancel within the applicable period, sign and date the Notice of Cancellation in your contract (or send any other written notice that you are cancelling) and deliver or mail it to:
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc.
25 Walpole Park S Unit 7
Walpole, MA 02081-2522
Rhode Island residents must send the notice by registered or certified mail. In other states, notice by mail is effective when postmarked. You may also email a copy to policies@newenglandmetalroofing.com or call 1-866-733-5811, but keep proof of the date you sent your written notice.
5. Refunds
If you cancel on time, we will return any payment you made, and any note or other evidence of debt you signed, within 10 business days of receiving your notice, and we will cancel any security interest arising from the contract. Your state may give you additional protection: for example, in Connecticut you owe nothing for work already performed and we must restore your property.
6. After the Cooling-Off Period
After the cancellation period ends, your written contract governs cancellation and refunds. Because Interlock® systems are made to order, materials already produced to your specification may not be refundable once the cancellation period has passed, as set out in your contract. Material warranty coverage is separate and governed by the Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty.
7. Workmanship & Product Issues
Cancellation is different from warranty or defect claims. For product or finish issues, see the Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty; for workmanship, see our 10 Year Limited Labor Warranty or contact our service team. This policy does not limit any consumer rights that cannot be waived under your state's law.
